SPONSOR A MONK
Kyegu Monastery in India houses approximately fifty monks. Many of these have made harrowing trips through the snow, risking death at the hands of Chinese soldiers, to make it to their monastery at Kamrao.
Monks arrive from Tibet frequently. The new monks, with the others, need to be fed and treated with medicines when necessary. As well, they need beds and bedding and other items.
In Tibet, these expenses were traditionally covered by members of the family, but as refugees, these monks have either left their families behind or have come into exile with other family members who are similarly impoverished.
The heart of Tibetan culture resides in its spiritual teachings, which are preserved in the sincere and dedicated practice of the Sangha. Their spiritual teachings can only be kept alive with our help.
It is now early 2008, and not all the monks are sponsored. The Monastery's Abbott and KBI's Spiritual Director, Aenpo Rinpoche, urgently needs help to sponsor the unsponsored monks.
They live very cheaply of course and their entire needs can be met by only $10 a week.
Can you see it in your heart to sponsor a monk for a year? Or if you feel you can't afford that at least for a few months?
We will let you know the name of the monk you are sponsoring and arrange with Rinpoche to have his photo sent to you. There will be a magic connection between you and the monk and the monastery.
Please contact KBI via email at sakya@iinet.net.au
We’d love you to help and so would Aenpo Rinpoche and the monks.
